Introduction

Emergency is the heart of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital. It is the ultimate destination for treatment of most of the sick patients of its catchment area. It runs twenty four hours of the day and seven days of the week. On the average 150 patients get their treatment in this sector in 24 hours, out of which 50% needs admission in the wards of emergency which is a 40 bedded sector. Around 40% of all hospital admissions are through emergency. A medical officer along with the residents of medicine, surgery, orthopedics and interns from modern and Indian medicines are available round the clock for prompt treatment of the patients. The doctors from other specialty come on call. An operation theater for minor operations and two separate operation theaters for major operations are also part of the emergency.
